	Edocsil !BacktoBlue WitchyWoman – 2010-09-01 14:59:47 The past few months, Edocsil has seen a struggle to make its monthly donations. That, combined with my own personal lack of participation and interest, is now causing me to close the site. We've made a good run- 3 pretty solid years is a great time for a LotGD server to survive and a lot of you have been here even longer than that, coming from EragonLive. Whether you're a new player or an old, thank you for the time you've spent here. The current month's lease for the server expires this month on September 5th. Though it may stay up for a day or two past that time, that will be the official shut-down date. The site rules are still in place until the site goes offline and anyone who breaks the rules will be punished accordingly. We will ease up on the advertising rules, however, if you spam the chats or other players with nothing but adverts for other sites, you will be muted/banned. I understand this short notice so I'm trying to help you guys out so you can meet back up with your friends- please don't take advantage of that. Katara and Charmah have been working on a new site and I hope that you will go there and support their efforts. Megiddo is based off the stories of its Co-Founders, Charmah and Katara, and takes place in a world where Demons and Angels battle for the right to claim Heaven. Members will be expected to role play in most cities. If you're joining from Edocsil, it is suggested you use your username for that site, though you can change it if you wish. No one has been trying to hack the site >.> I'll be going through the modules to see what we could do without so if something disappears, that's why. If I mistakenly remove something that you all do use, just petition and it can be added back. Majority rules, however so if only one or two of you miss it, sorry. Another thing I'm considering is to remove a village or two. I don't think they all get used that much and the modules can easily be relocated. The first thing that I'm taking down is the offsite forum. I might look into a Wiki page or something similar to post the information there, but for right now, it's taking up space that could be used for the game itself. Also, just to let you know, I'm running a full backup as we speak, so if the site slows down over the next couple hours, that's probably why. Witchy --- Wow, I got my weeks completely messed up. Easter Modules and Clan Pyramid Contest Haidee – 2010-04-03 14:30:05 Easter is just around the corner, and I completely forgot about it! xD The new modules will be more of a celebration of springtime, I guess. Most of the Easter-related things can be found in Haystable, the Easter Village, but Ye Olde Easter Gifte Shoppe is in all of the villages. For those who weren't here for Christmas or Valentine's Day when we also ran this module, it works like this..you purchase gifts for your friends and family in the Gift Shoppe. These items get tucked into an egg and sent to the Holiday Table in the Green Chestnut in Teirm where they can be opened on April 30th. You can check the Holiday Table at any time to see how many Easter eggs you'll be receiving, but you can't see what's inside them until the end of the month. EVERYONE will receive at least one egg, so be sure to check it out! :) In Haystable, you will find The Egg Bank, an Easter Dinner option where you can try to cook up the best Easter dinner, and a few other things! Also located in Haystable is an Easter Egg Hunt shop where you can turn in the Easter eggs you will randomly find in the Spine. (These will give you small bonuses.) Along with the Egg Bank is another fun module. It's another type of Egg Hunt where you will randomly come across letters being sold or awarded through battles. If you can collect the letters needed to spell out your login name and/or a few other words, you can turn them in for points at the Egg Bank. Once you get points, you can then turn in the points for either gems or gold! There's also a Bunny of DOOM loose in the Spine, so watch your step. ;) While you're in the Spine, keep an eye out for the Egg Dyeing Hut, which you may come across while fighting beasties! Can you create a work of art out of a plain chicken egg? Finally, the clans now have the option to buy Easter Trees to decorate! This is also a contest..the clan with the best decorated tree on April 30th will be awarded 10 million gold and 25k gems! Our special Easter edition medallion hunt contest is a hunt for Peeps! The contest will run TWICE this month. On April 15th, the 5 players with the most peeps will win double the amount in gems! Happy Valentine's Day! =] Live Chat !BacktoBlue WitchyWoman – 2010-02-07 19:45:57 We've been working on getting the live chat back up and running for us and have come up with a temporary fix! Most of you may not notice any difference in the way it works now and the way it was working. The new posts still show up without you having to refresh BUT, every time you post, it's as if you had manually refreshed. Your post shows up (of course), but your whole page refreshes instead of just the post magically appearing there on the screen in front of you. It's a little different, but I really don't think anyone will have a problem with it. It has been reactivated and if you had turned it off, feel free to turn it back on in Preferences :) Valentine's Day !BacktoBlue WitchyWoman – 2010-02-07 14:22:08 Valentine's Day is only a week away and in celebration of the holiday, we have brought back the Holiday Gift Shop and the Lovers Lounge in The Green Chestnut in Teirm. These work just like the Holiday Gift Shop and Tree that we had for Christmas. You have from now until February 14 to buy gifts for your Valentine and friends which can only be opened on the 14th. Everyone will receive at least one present and you can check to see how many more you will be receiving at the Lounge in the Inn. Gifts are still being added to the Shop so be sure to keep checking back there. I have also activated the Candy Heart Contest. This is just like the Eldunari Contest but Valentine-themed. Sign up for this in Valentine's Day Contest and hunt Candy Hearts! The 5 players with the most Candy Hearts on February 14th will win their number of Candy Hearts x2 in gems! New Server !BacktoBlue WitchyWoman – 2010-02-06 12:09:04 UPDATE: I have deactivated livechat, just to make it easier. Yay! We're running the new server as we speak. HOWEVER, the old one is still up and running too and they are NOT linked together. So in order for you to not lose any progress (if you actually level) you will need to log out, clear your DNS cache and then log back in. For Windows machines, go to Start > Run > Type in "cmd" without the quotes, then type "ipconfig /flushdns" without the quotes and then you should be good. Then just come back to edocsil.com and you should be on the new server. For those of you with Macs or even Linux OSs, I don't have exact instructions for you, sorry, lol. But if you Google "clear DNS cache" you should be able to get instructions. Also, there seems to be a problem with the livechat over on the new server. We will be fixing this, but in the meantime, go to Preferences and the Live Chat option and turn it OFF. Once we get it fixed, we'll let you know so you can turn it back on. I'll post more once I know more. If you find any more bugs or anything that doesn't seem right over there, please petition it and we'll look into it as soon as we can. Thanks! New Server !BacktoBlue WitchyWoman – 2010-02-05 11:23:33 UPDATE: The site should be changing over within the next couple hours. 9:10pm Eastern. First let me thank everyone who has donated to help save the site and also give thanks to those who can't donate but still log in every day to show their support. (A BIG thank you goes to GoldenMaiden from Tynastera and I'll post more about that later.) Through your generosity, we're still up and running for at least a couple more months ;) We will still need monthly donations, but our goal will not be quite as high as it is now. Which brings me to the subject of this message.. I just got off the phone with our host and we'll be changing servers here shortly. Right now we are on a dedicated server and after looking at our actual usage, we really don't need all that it offers. We're changing to a VPS server that fits our actual needs better. This will reduce our monthly cost to about half. I'll know the specific amount after it's changed over and will let you know. I do not know when specifically the changeover will occur but as soon as I know, I'll make an announcement. Right now, I just have the ticket in to make the change. Since the site will be down, I'll try to keep everyone updated on Facebook on the Edocsil page, so if you're on FB, you may want to join that group to get the updates. I wasn't able to pay the server fee this month due to lack of donations. LunarPages (our hosting site) has given me an extension of about a week to pay and I'll be able to pay it then. HOWEVER, as I've said before, I really cannot afford to pay the server cost every month myself. We have gotten a few donations recently which I thank you for, but if donations don't pick back up, we won't be up for very much longer. We're going to look into other, less expensive plans, so hopefully the monthly goal won't be quite so high. For anyone that can help, I'm offering triple points for the remainder of this month and double points for February. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... I've just installed the winter holiday town, Polareia Borealis! There you will find most of the winter/holiday modules. We get pretty generous around the holidays and most modules are well worth your time ;) The Holiday Gift Shop will be open in a few days for your shopping pleasure as well. For those unfamiliar with this, it is a place where you can buy gifts for your Edocsil friends and family, but they cannot be opened until Christmas Day. (We usually change this to either the day before or after Christmas to allow those who travel for the holiday the chance to get their gifts.) Everyone will receive at least one present and you can check your number of presents at the Fireplace in the Green Chestnut in Teirm. If you have any suggestions/requests for the Gift Shop, please petition them. There are still a couple of modules that have not been installed yet, so keep an eye out for even more new things. Guestbooks !BacktoBlue WitchyWoman – 2009-11-24 07:22:19 UPDATE 11/24/09: As promised, auto-deletion of Guestbook comments was turned on this past week. Comments will remain for 2 weeks then they will be automatically deleted. Also, Ruler has added the option to Show your OWN Guestbook and Show OTHER PLAYERS' Guestbooks. It is under the Tab "Bio Guestbook" in Preferences. The default is "Yes" to both options so if you want to see everyone else's and want yours to show in your own bio, then you don't need to do anything. Enjoy! UPDATE 11/03/09: The DELETE button is now available in your OWN bios for you to have the ability to delete posts of your choosing. Auto-deletion of posts has NOT been activated yet, but I will turn that function on on November 20. That gives you just over 2 weeks to make a copy of any posts you'd like to save forever. Anything older than 2 weeks will be deleted at that time. 10/27/09 We will be adding a couple new features to the Guestbooks in the next couple of days. Thanks to Ruler (again xD), you will all have a Delete button in your OWN bios so you may delete any/all posts that you don't like, are tired of or whatever. Staff will still have the power to delete from ALL bios and will still remove any/all offensive posts as they see fit- even if you don't. Also, the posts will now expire after a certain amount of time. I'm thinking 2 weeks, but I may extend this a bit. The expiration of comments will not go into effect right away. We realize some of you may want to keep a copy of them so we're giving you a couple weeks to do this. I'm also still just in the process of testing the updated file so it's not even installed yet, but I hope to have the Delete button up and running in the next few days- maybe even tomorrow. I will make another announcement as to when the comments will begin to auto-delete as we get closer to that time. Server Migration !BacktoBlue WitchyWoman – 2009-10-19 08:17:06 I received an email from our host company notifying me of a server migration scheduled for October 23. Edocsil.com is not changing servers, per se but Lunar Pages is changing the location of the dedicated server we are using. Starting at 7 pm PST (10 pm Eastern) on October 23, the site will be temporarily down while they move to a new datacenter. It should only be down for 2 hours at the most and we shouldn't have any problems after the migration is completed. I will be running an extra back up of the site just prior to the scheduled move just in case, though. Updates !BacktoBlue WitchyWoman – 2009-10-02 15:03:35 Halloween is soon upon us once again. Esoterra has been reopened for your spooky pleasure! Pumpkin carving, the Goblin Hotel and the morgue are just a few of the holiday modules we have there. Also, you may have noticed a Hidden Door pop up from time to time. Who know what you may find behind it...a trick or a treat...insert scary music here Also in the next day or two, I'll be adding a special "Eldunari Hunt" module. Instead of looking for Eldunari, a special Halloween item will be in its place. The prizes will be a bit higher, but more details on that when I get it added. And last but not certainly not least since this will appeal to a lot of you more than the Halloween modules, Ruler has once again modified something for us here on Edocsil. We now have a live yom system! In order for this to work, you need to keep your YOM window open so it stays either in your taskbar or as another tab. Every 2 minutes, it will autoupdate to let you know how many new messages you have. It has a max refresh of 10 times so if you step away from your computer for more than 20 minutes, you will be timed out. Enjoy! I have an updated copy of the ages in bio module that I have just uploaded. This will force all new players to enter a birthdate when they make an account and will show what age group the person belongs in so we can keep better track. By updating the module, it has reset everyone else's age group (all the text and everything else is still there). I need everyone to please petition their birthdate (YYYY-MM-DD) so that we can edit your information. No one will be able to see your birthday in your bio- it's only used by the module for the age ranges. Thanks! Much thanks to Oriad Ruler! He volunteered to edit our Trading Camp modules so empty tents will now automatically close when they're empty! Now no more going through the great big long lists only to find there's nothing there! Tents are triggered to close automatically once a person enters an empty tent or when the last available item is sold. So I've spent the last couple hours checking each tent >.> lol. I did notice that some of you still have extremely high prices on things. Sorry to break it to you, but no one's going to buy a turn from you for 10000000000000000000000000 gold :\| Please, please, PLEASE close your tent if you're only using it for storage. You will not lose your item(s) you have in there and it will help save time for other players who are looking for items to buy... for a reasonable price. Ruler also wrote a donation points shelf for us so you will be able to sell donation points in your tents. The same rules apply as far as having 5k points/custom title- you will NOT be able to sell any amount of points that will put you under 5k if you have a custom title. Right now, you can only sell them for gold, but we'll see about adding the option for gems since I forgot to ask him about that when he offered to help...lol. (That was kind of a polite attempt at asking, if you're up to another task, Ruler :P) *FIXEDAlso, the poke modules are not working properly at the moment. They are being added to players' bios, but the system yoms aren't being sent out to inform the player they've been poked/pounced/etc. That's on my agenda to fix today so they should be working soon. Thank you to everyone who has reported the white screen when being forced to fight Murtagh/Thorn. I'll also be trying to fix that today. For those that are still getting the white screen at the new day, I'm not sure what the problem still is. There've only been a couple of you that have reported that so I'll try to look into that as well. In the meantime, you can try clearing your cache to see if that clears it up for you since most people are fine at the new day now. I think that's it for now. I apologize for the site being down for a few hours today, but we decided to go ahead and upgrade to 1.1.1. We have been playing for a couple hours and most things seem to work, but you may come across some other bugs/glitches. Please send in a petition telling us the exact problem if you come across any error. Livechat is working with one small glitchy thing. When you post and hit enter/add, the post stays in the chatbox until you either leave the page or start to type another post. I'm going to try to figure it out, but in the meantime, just be careful that you don't repeatedly hit enter/add. The GOOD news about it though is that clantag colors, timestamps, Previous AND Refresh all work now! Yay! One other small problem that is happening is when your Master comes to get you if you have enough xp to gain 2 or more levels. It brings you to a white page and then a Click Here page. I'm going to leave this turned on for the moment, but if players are getting stuck in a badnav from it, I'll turn that option off. New Days also may give you a white page. Unless you are stuck, please don't petition that as we already know about it. Also, donations have been pretty low for the past few months. I hate to keep saying this, but if we don't reach the monthly goal every month, the site will shut down. For the month of September, I am once again offering double points for any donation you make.
